If you’re researching container shelters, chances are the first question on your mind is: what’s this actually going to cost? Fair question, and one a lot of suppliers dance around. Here’s a straight answer, plus what actually moves the number up or down.
Starting Prices by Size
Container shelters are priced primarily by width, but container length matters too. Our entry prices below are based on 20ft containers; shelters built around 40ft containers are priced higher, since they cover more ground and use more material.

Other Pricing Factors:
Do you already have containers, or do you need us to source them? This is one of the biggest cost swings. If you already own suitable containers, you’re only paying for the shelter structure itself. If you need containers supplied, the next question is new vs. used. New containers cost more, while used or water-tight containers bring the total down. Additonally, while container prices remain relatively stable across the board, freight of containers to your site can impact this cost significantly. When we source containers from you, we do it directly with factories in China for new ones, or find a close supplier to your site to keep freight prices low.
Site prep. Your site needs to be flat and ready before container and shelter delivery. Depending on your starting point, this can mean anything from minor levelling to a full concrete pad, and it’s a cost that sits outside the shelter price itself, so it’s worth factoring into your budget early.
Common Extras
Once you’ve settled on a base size, there are a few common additions that affect final price:
- End walls: we offer a variety of end panels for extra weather protection or security. Half end walls, full end walls and end walls with doors are all common choices. A full end wall below, for a 12m Compact Container Shelter for example, costs an additional $2550.00 incl GST.
- Custom design: anything outside a standard configuration, tailored to your specific site or use case. This is all time and complexity dependant. For small changes or simple site layouts, we often do this for free. For full custom engineering or from scratch design, expect to start at $150 per hour. Delivery distance, less of a factor than you’d think: We’ve built strong relationships with freight providers across Australia and New Zealand, so pricing tends to stay reasonable regardless of location. Contact us with your delivery requirements and we will shop around freight for you!
